It will be interesting to see how the Alpine driver does in the remainder of this race. Ocon almost got caught out whilst trying to lap Raikkonen, as Vettel very nearly came up the inside of him. The issues with his car from the beginning of the race are no doubt playing their part in this. Verstappen is down in 11th, one place outside of the points, and he looks increasingly to have a sharp surge up the standings. Lap 54: Will Verstappen get up in the points? Hamilton is trying to get past Alonso and put pressure on the top three of Ocon, Vettel and Sainz, but Alonso is defending excellently and is making life difficult for the Englishman. Sainz is not far ahead of Alonso in third, but for the time being Alonso is doing enough to prevent Hamilton from advancing. Hamilton has not had any luck with getting past Alonso. Lap 60: Alonso and Hamilton still battling Let's see if Verstappen can make any more progress now. Verstappen has risen above Ricciardo and is now in 10th place. Meanwhile, Vettel and Sainz remain in second and third respectively. Ocon is looking very assured as the leader, but his teammate Alonso is doing a wonderful job of preventing Hamilton from putting any pressure on him. The Alpine driver locked up, which created the space for Hamilton to get past. Hamilton, who was as low as 14th, is now fourth after finally overtaking Alonso. Hamilton is now up into the podium places after getting past Sainz, who voiced his frustration with a loud "argh" on the Ferrari team radio. The end is within sight! Lap 67: Hamilton rises up to third Pierre Gasly recorded the fastest lap on the final lap too, so that's a point taken away from Hamilton.Įsteban Ocon is on course to win his first-ever Formula 1 race. Red Bull's Max Verstappen had a tough time after the Valtteri Bottas incident and ends up in 10th. Aston Martin's Sebastian Vettel comes in second and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton finishes in third.

What a brilliant day for the Frenchman, who took advantage of the chaos on the opening laps to full effect. In the space of two races - and with a lot of controversy along the way - the Mercedes driver now finds himself on top. Incredibly, Max Verstappen was 32 points ahead of Hamilton going into Silverstone. Lewis Hamilton has picked up 15 points here in Hungary, so he now leads the standings by six points.
